  • Autosave actually saves the changes you make to the same file. Autorecover creates a copy which you can recover, but does not replace the original file. Turning off AutoSave cant be done using these instructions.
  • In Word, go up and click the File menu item at the top of the screen > Preferences. From within this window, click Save. From here, make sure the “Save AutoRecover info” box is checked.
  • MS has not figured out in 30 years that we NEED a true autosave function. Instead all they have is the 'autorecovery' feature, a poor second. Word version is important.
